HD Performing Arts Policies

At HD Performing Arts, the safety, wellbeing, and happiness of our students is our top priority. Below you can read our policies, which guide how we run our classes, workshops, and performance camps.

Safeguarding & Child Protection

• HD Performing Arts is committed to providing a safe, creative, and supportive environment for every child.

• DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead): Hollie O’Donoghue

• All staff hold enhanced DBS checks.

• Concerns are reported to the DSL immediately.

• If a child is at immediate risk of harm, Social Services or the Police will be contacted.

Health & Safety

• We ensure all classes and venues are safe.

• Risk assessments are carried out regularly.

• First aid kit on site; trained first aider present at every session.

• Fire procedures in place and explained to children.

• Registers taken at all sessions.

Behaviour & Anti-Bullying

• We promote respect, teamwork, and positivity.

• We use encouragement and praise to reinforce good behaviour.

• Bullying, intimidation, or discrimination will not be tolerated.

• Issues are first discussed with the child, then with parents.

• Persistent issues may result in exclusion.

Complaints

• We aim to work in partnership with parents.

• 1. Speak to the Principal (Hollie O’Donoghue).

• 2. If unresolved, submit a written complaint (response within 28 days).

• 3. If still unsatisfied, parents can contact Ofsted: 0300 123 1231 | www.ofsted.gov.uk

• We welcome all children regardless of background, ability, or belief.

• Reasonable adjustments are made for additional needs.

• We celebrate diversity in classes and performances.

• Zero tolerance for discrimination.

Data Protection & Privacy (GDPR)

• We store information securely and use it only for school purposes.

• Data is password-protected/locked.

• Only staff who need access can view it.

• Parents may request access to their data at any time.

• Data is deleted when no longer required.

First Aid & Medication

• Medication only given with written parental consent.

• Must be labelled with child’s name and dosage.

• All accidents/incidents recorded and shared with parents.

Staffing & Safer Recruitment

• All staff/volunteers undergo enhanced DBS checks.

• References taken before employment.

• Staff trained in safeguarding and first aid.

• Safe supervision ratios maintained.

Photography & Social Media

• We celebrate our students’ achievements while keeping them safe.

• Parents sign a consent form for photos/videos.

• Children without consent will not appear in promotional materials.

• Images are used only for HD Performing Arts publicity (website, flyers, social media).

Missing or Uncollected Child

• Registers taken at every class and camp.

• If a child goes missing, parents and emergency services will be contacted.

• Children only released to authorised adults.

• If a child is not collected, we will contact parents, then emergency contacts, and if necessary Social Services.
